In addition to being one of the sexiest videos ever made, Janet Jackson’s “Got til it’s gone” video has style coming out of it’s ears. I should explain here that the LLO stance on Janet is that her career ended with the “Pleasure Principle” video.I don’t know who they replaced her with, but that whole barely singing, barely dancing whispering Janet is not the real deal. No matter. This video gets regular rotation from me based purely on visuals. With an assist from the sweet threads.

It’ 90 degrees out today, and i saw way too many dudes showing their toes, and running around dressed like The crocodile hunter. There’s no dignity in that. When the weather gets sweaty, that’s when you gotta step up your haberdasherial game. You’re gonna sweat no matter what, might as well sweat with style. More after the break…

Directed by Mark Romanek, the video attempts to evoke the feel of mid-century South Africa as seen through the pages of seminal African Magazine Drum.

All historical references aside. This is just some fly shit. I love the combination of 70’s vintage. jazz age classic looks, and African color and prints. And the clean but well worn look is alwyas a winer. There’s nothing stiffer than a brand new suit. It’s all about the suit the fits you like an old pair of jeans.

Romanek is one of those “stylish” directors. He definitely brings a look to all of his work. His “Hurt” Video for Johnny Cash is a classic. In this vid he definitely conveys perfectly the feel of a hot sweat, sexy night at a backroom speakeasy. It’s the reason I love ummertime. When the temperature goes up, that’s when people get a little loose with their inhibitions. And aint nothing wrong with that. As long as you look good doing it.
